Parent Mentor

A mentor is not someone who walks ahead of you. A mentor walks beside you, guiding you on your journey.


With the Crawford County Schools Parent Mentor, families and teachers work together to improve student outcomes by improving communication and collaboration between families, educators, and the community. The Crawford County Schools Parent Mentor works with families and teachers to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Parent Mentors are a part of the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership.

The mission of the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership is to build effective family, school, and community partnerships that lead to greater achievement for students, especially those with disabilities.

The vision of the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership is Parent mentors and special education administrators will lead the way in Georgia to bridge the gap between home, school, and community partnerships.

Parent to Parent of Georgia has officially launched their Community Needs Assessment Survey. This is part of their ongoing effort to listen carefully, learn from their partners, and ensure that their programs and services continue to meet the changing needs of families and communities throughout Georgia.

2026 Annual Parent Involvement Survey for Georgia Families Raising Students with a Disability

Why are you being asked to complete a Statewide Survey?

  • In order for all students to graduate prepared to achieve a lifetime of success, families need to be an important part of the school team. It is critical that the GaDOE assist local school systems in partnering with families to raise the achievement rate for students with disabilities. Completing this survey will assist in achieving this goal.

Who is being surveyed?

  • The GaDOE is surveying parents of students with disabilities throughout Georgia.

Who will see your answers?

  • Individual answers are kept confidential. Each response will be coded by a number- not a name.

What will be done with the information collected?

  • GaDOE Division of Exceptional Children will work collaboratively with Parent to Parent of Georgia (P2P), the statewide Parent Training Information Center, to identify needs in family involvement within the state and local districts based on statewide survey results.

Why do you want to know my child's ethnicity and disability?

  • Geographic area, ethnicity, and disability group data is collected to ensure the results are valid and reflect the overall demographics of the state. Be sure to indicate ethnicity as requested.
