School Nutrition

It is the mission of the Crawford County School Nutrition Program to be a partner in the educational process by providing high quality meals and nutrition education opportunities for students that promote healthy children, ready to learn.

The Crawford County Board of Education (CCBOE) will return to paid and traditional eligibility for free and reduced student lunches in Crawford County Schools starting August 5, 2019.  The number of Crawford County Students who are considered directly certified (DC) has dropped significantly since 2015.  This reduction in DC has made the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) non sustainable. With breakfast being the most important meal of the day, the CCBOE has elected to continue serving breakfast at no charge to students.  The overall goal for the Crawford County School Nutrition Program is to be self-funded, and change is required to attain that goal.  Since August 2015, the CEP extended meals to all students at no charge.

To allow time for free and reduced price meal applications to be received and processed, all students will eat lunch at no charge through the end of August or until an application is received.

Effective August 5, 2019, the rates for school meals are as follows:

Breakfast      Free at all schools

Lunch           Eagle’s Nest and Elementary students $2.00

                   Middle and High students $2.00

                   Reduced price meals $.40
